Philly Day Date

Not a trip. Doesn't belong here. But we cooked, we explored, we ate way too well, and it felt wrong not to give it a page.

Tuesday Evening

6:15 PM

Stuffed Peppers

Got off work around 5:15 and headed straight to Lane's. Made it there by 6:15 after fighting for a parking spot. Lane had already gone to Aldi to get dinner stuff so we chilled for a bit before we started cooking.

We made stuffed peppers - six of them with ground beef, rice, tomato paste, and tomato chunks. The beef was cooked with garlic, onion, paprika, oregano, salt and pepper. Dinner was ready around 7:45 and we ate with Jules at the dinner table.

The 3.5-Mile “Short Walk”

After dinner we decided to go for a short walk. That short walk turned into nearly 3.5 miles through center city and back. Got home and I showered while Lane did some work, then she showered and we hung out. Lights out around midnight.

10 AM

Bellevue Sporting Club

Woke up and laid in bed for a little in typical L & A fashion. Got up around 10 and started walking to her gym. On the way Lane stopped at Starbucks to buy coffee for some bike shop workers. After a 30-minute walk we got to the Bellevue Sporting Club - she belongs there and it's really nice.

Hit shoulders and arms, then went downstairs and played pickleball, shot some basketball, and played some pingpong.

1:30 PM

Café Square One

Left the gym around 1:30 and biked to Old City for lunch at Café Square One. We both got buffalo chicken wraps. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee that was amazing and an everything bagel with cream cheese.

3:00 PM

Ring Shopping

On the way to the café we passed some jewelers. Lane had the idea during lunch to stop in one of them. She called ahead and they had an appointment available at 3 - right when we were finishing up. So we went ring shopping. Lane loved what she picked out and we were only there for 30 minutes.

4 PM

Cherry Street Pier

After that we walked around Old City and ended up at Cherry Street Pier. Lane got a dirty Shirley and I got a lemon bourbon. Hung out on the water overlooking BB&T Pavilion and the Camden Aquarium until we called an Uber home - the walk back would have been well over an hour.

Getting Ready

Got home and hung out for a little before showering and getting ready. When we were set we poured a pregame glass of wine in Lane's room before hopping in the Uber.

7 PM

Wm. Mulherin's Sons

We had a 7pm reservation at Wm. Mulherin's Sons in Fishtown and got there right on time. We wanted to sit outside so they put us at a booth out there but it was too hot. Moved inside and it was much nicer.

Lane got a drink she said "tastes like yoga" - this sangria-like thing. I started with the Glider - aperitivo, nepitella amaro and lemon - but it was small so I upgraded to the Green Street with blanco tequila, Italian genepì, and basil cucumber agave.

For food we had to try their pizza straight from the brick oven - got the marg to start with some house bread. Then we shared two plates - the tagliatelle with ragù bolognese and parmigiano vacche rosse, and the mezze maniche carbonara with guanciale, pecorino, egg yolk, and black pepper. We ate and drank everything.

9 PM

False Positive (Don't Watch)

Got home a little after 9. I didn't want to leave so we threw on a movie. Lane picked out False Positive and I would not recommend it. Bad acting, a story that went nowhere, multiple things that never tied together, and an ending that was both odd and unsatisfying. Anyways - movie was over and I said bye to my bestie Lane.

Not Bad for a Wednesday

Stuffed peppers, a 3-mile walk, gym day, ring shopping, pier drinks, and Italian in Fishtown. This technically wasn't a trip but it earned a page.
